David Ayer says Jared Leto is ‘absolutely amazing’ as Joker in ‘Suicide Squad’

Director David Ayer continues to talk about Jared Leto’s performance in Suicide Squad, praising his version of the Joker during a recent interview with Total Film Magazine.

Jared Leto as Joker Suicide Squad photo“What Jared has done is absolutely incredible. When he steps onto the set the world stops. Everything stops. What he’s done is so powerful, so menacing, so palpable, you can feel him. The crew stops working and just watches him. I have to get everybody going again because he’s so fascinating.”

The Fury director added that there will be plenty of surprises for fans.

“What’s interesting to me is how there’s been a lot to perception of what this film is because we have been exposed more than other movies. What people think this movie is is not what it is. There’s much more to come.”

Joining Leto will be Margot Robbie, Will Smith, Jared Leto, Joel Kinnaman, Viola Davis, and Jai Courtney as the top stars in the DC Comics adaptation centering on the villains united to overcome suicidal missions.

Also cast are Cara Delevingne as the troubled mage known as Enchantress, Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje as Killer Croc, Adam Beach as Slipknot, Jay Hernandez as El Diablo and Karen Fukuhara as Katana.

Ben Affleck is certain to make an appearance as Batman/Bruce Wayne.

Suicide Squad will hit theaters on August 5, 2016.
