‘Dark Knight Rises’ director says Superman film, ‘Man of Steel,’ is in ‘good hands’
Christopher Nolan has more credibility with fans than anyone in Hollywood after his Batman trilogy concluded with “The Dark Knight Rises.” Nolan, who serves as a producer and adviser to the “Man of Steel” Superman reboot, spoke briefly on Thursday about Zack Snyder and the franchise.
Nolan told The Hollywood Reporter that the Superman movie is in good hands.
“I’m just amazed by what he is doing. Zack was the perfect man to take this on; he is unbelievably skilled at creating a coherent, cohesive world. Whether it’s a very stylized world, like ’300,’ or something that’s more challenging, more varied, like he did with ‘Watchmen.’”
The “Inception” added that he believes bringing Superman to the big screen is more challenging than Batman.
“In my honest appraisal, taking on Superman and creating that world is far more difficult than creating the world of the Dark Knight. He has a lot of finishing to do on the movie — it has a very long post production schedule because, unlike Batman, Superman flies,” Nolan continued. “I actually feel guilty talking about it because I’m sitting here having nothing to do to it. I try to be as supportive as I can, and I’m just amazed by what he is doing. It’s not something I would know how to do.”
Snyder has assembled an all-star cast around Henry Cavill as Superman/Clark Kent, Amy Adams as Lois Lane, Michael Shannon as General Zod, Kevin Costner as Clark’s adoptive father Jonathan Kent, Diane Lane as Clark’s adoptive mother Martha Kent.
Russell Crowe and Ayelet Zurer are Superman’s Kryptonian parents. Antje Traue stars as Faora to battle alongside Zod and Laurence Fishburne, Christopher Meloni, Harry Lennix, Michael Kelly, and Richard Shiff also star.
“Man of Steel” opens in theaters on June 14, 2013.
