Danny Elfman confirms ‘Justice League’ will have iconic Batman music
Fans learned that Joss Whedon had enlisted the Danny Elfman to score Justice League, and fans of the composer’s iconic theme for Tim Burton’s Batman will be pleased to hear that’s also making a comeback.
During an interview with Reporte Indigo, Elfman was asked whether he’ll introduce a new theme for Batman, or perhaps reuse one of the earlier pieces from Hans Zimmer that was featured in either Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice or The Dark Knight trilogy.
Instead, Elfman pointed to the perfect music, his creation from years past.
“No, you will not hear a new theme for Batman. You’ll hear Batman’s theme… Hans has done some wonderful, driving, rhythmic stuff, but there has only been one theme and it is the Batman theme.
“Now, I did use the theme that Hans composed for Wonder Woman, the one that he wrote originally and used a bit – maybe – from John Williams to Superman, just maybe, we’ll have to see.”
Elfman’s themse has always been attached to the Caped Crusader, particularly through the success of the animated series.
Game of Thrones alum Ciaran Hinds will play Steppenwolf in Justice League, a villain presented entirely through motion capture, to battle Henry Cavill’s Superman, dead at the end of Batman v Superman, leaving Batman (Ben Affleck) to organize a team to protect the earth when needed.
Wonder Woman (Gal Gadot), Cyborg (Ray Fisher), The Flash (Ezra Miller), and Aquaman (Jason Momoa) round out the team with Jesse Eisenberg reprising his role of Lex Luthor, Jeremy Irons as Alfred, Diane Lane as Mrs. Kent and Amy Adams playing Lois Lane.
Newcomers are J.K. Simmons as Commissioner Gordon, Amber Heard as Mera and Willem Dafoe as Nuidis Vulko.
Justice League opens in theaters on November 17, 2017.
