Dan Bremnes talks Winter Jam, his ‘one man band,’ family, being a PK

Winter Jam is one of the biggest tours in America and thousands of Christian music fans pack arenas around the country for the biggest names in the business. Skillet, Kari Jobe, Building 429, KB and Jordan Feliz top the event host by Newsong, who always perform around the halfway mark. Christian comedian John Crist is also on tour.

Dan Bremnes is on tour and spoke with Brandon Jones about the Winter Jam, beginning with his lone experience with the event as a “music snob,” teasing a surprise for fans at the 2018 shows.

“I kinda have a unique looking stage,” he says, “trying not to give too much away” before confessing “I actually do everything on my own” using a looper, which he explains.

Bremnes is part of the “Pre-Jam Party” with Mallory Hope and Westover. The Canadian born Christian will be playing like “Where the Light Is” or “Beautiful.”

Dan talks about the writing and creative process, using his experiences to take notes and sing about “what God is teaching me….I think that’s what life is about…Getting stuck on that moment. What is God doing?”

“Pull God’s whisper out of that season.”

The lineup for Winter Jam is jammed  packed, but tickets are only $15 at the door. Visit jamtour.com  to get more information, find a tour date near you.

Traveling with family, being away from family is truly a challenging balance and Dan discusses that process, crediting his wife greatly.

Then Dan spoke briefly about being a Pastor’s kid, cracking a joke or two before offering up some goodhearted advice, sharing his own experience of waking up one: “I know a lot about God, but I don’t know God.

“The trouble….the difficulty is…that is all (Christianity) becomes very familar,” he says, pointing to the need for a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. “We lose out on the biggest gift that is available to us and that is knowing God on our own.”
