Dallas church celebrates 150 year anniversary

The church on Ross Avenue began when Abraham Lincoln was in the White House and for 150 years, the house of worship at 4711 Westside Drive has prayed for their city, their leaders, fed the hungry and welcomed all seeking the Lord.

Central Christian Church Dallas Texas 150 year anniversaryMembers of the Central Christian Church celebrated the church’s 150 year history Sunday as Dallas Mayor Mike Rawlings visited the congregation.

Sunday’s worship service capped off a year-long celebration which included reflection of the church moves, the historical building which is now a law firm and the rich history in the Dallas area.

“When you’re around a long time, you must be doing something right”, said Mayor Rawlings.

“Central Christian Church has come a long way during the past 150 years, but the message has always stayed the same” is the message greeting visitors to the church’s website.

As part of the celebration, the church also ran a “150 pairs for 150 years” shoe drive to gather shoes and socks for orphans.

It has been an exciting time with the church even being added to Wikipedia to chronicle some of their history.
