D.C. pediatrician, Dr. Robert P. Dickey, pleads guilty to child porn charges
D.C. pediatrician, Dr. Robert P. Dickey has pleaded guilty to child porn charges. He was held in custody when FBI agents found him viewing a website with child pornography in his office, back in May 2013.
The police visited the office when National Center for Missing and Exploited Children informed that 14 images of child pornography were uploaded from Dickey’s I.P. address. Upon search, more than 130 images were recovered that were saved on external hard drives.
The U.S. Attorney’s office informed that Dr. Robert P. Dickey, 74, will face up to 10 years in prison, a $250,000 fine and will be required to register as a sex offender for 15 years after he is released from prison.
“Dr. Dickey was entrusted to care for the well-being of children, but he instead chose to collect images of their sexual exploitation,” said U.S. Attorney Ronald Machen Jr. in a statement. “Victims of child pornography are harmed when images of their abuse are swapped over the Internet for years, haunting the victims long after their initial abuse.”
The sentence hearing is scheduled for Dec. 17.
