Comedian Norm MacDonald considers deactivating twitter account after Atheists attack

Comedian and former “Saturday Night Live” alumnus Norm Macdonald stirred up a Sunday evening hornet’s nest with a series of tweets and replies on religion, tolerance, and respect for people of faith. Now MacDonald tweeted March 21 that he may just unplug from twitter completely.

“I’ve grown tired of twitter and am considering deactivating it. Maybe even unplugging everything. We’ll see.—

Twitchy details the exchange that led up to the “attacks”:

Undoubtedly to the Christian-bashing reader’s surprise, Macdonald responded in defense of those who read scripture:

What’s surprising about that? Don’t most people study the scriptures?—

Macdonald retweeted a reader who opined that a lot of PGA golfers read scripture:

@normmacdonald I know most pga tour golfers do.—

The comedian added:

I think most people study the scriptures. Most people seem smart to me.—

Next came a flood of outraged tweets from atheist Twitter users, some of which Macdonald retweeted. He now says he may keep twitter sticking to comments only to comedy and golf.
