Claire Danes, Damian Lewis and ‘Homeland’ all win Golden Globes
Some may call it a “hat trick,” as the Showtime series “Homeland” swept the big awards in their category.
Co-stars Claire Danes, who plays CIA agent Carrie Mathison, and Damian Lewis, who stars as Sergeant Nicholas Brody, both won top acting awards and show won Best TV Drama for the second year in a row at Sunday night’s Golden Globes.
“Wow! I have to think about the Hollywood Foreign Press Association for being so insanely generous to me, for so many years now. I was up here when I was 15. This is amazing!”
Danes was referring to her first Best Actress Golden Globe in 1995 for “My So-Called Life.”
The actress says she is ‘very proud to be working in this medium in this moment in this company’ and thanked the cast and crew.
Alex Ganza, executive producer of “Homeland,” recalled a difficult night of filming where Danes, eight months pregnant, had to do multiple takes being chased in a drainage pipe.
‘We fairly killed ourselves trying to live up to the hype of that first season and this award tells that maybe, maybe, we didn’t screw it up,’ he said.
Damian Lewis, meanwhile delivered an emotional dedication to his late mother.
