Christian film ‘Alone Yet Not Alone’ gets Oscar nomination for Best Original Song

The Academy Awards included at least one surprise nomination for fans of faith based films.

Alone-Yet-Not-Alone-Christian-Movie-Film-on-DVD-Jenn-GotzonAlone Yet Not Alone, a film centering on two sisters during the 1750s who are captured by a native tribe and struggle to return home, earned an Oscar nod.

The film was produced by Enthuse Entertainment, a studio that produces “God-honoring, faith based, family friendly films that inspire the human spirit to seek and know God.”

According to Vulture, the song’s unlikely nomination may be credited to one of the project’s co-writers, Bruce Broughton, who is a former governor of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, the organization that runs the Oscars.

The song faces lofty competition, including “Let It Go” from Disney’s Frozen and U2’s “Ordinary Love,” which won the Golden Globe for Best Original Song, from Mandela: Long Walk to Freedom.

If Alone Yet Not Alone is able to win the golden statuette, fans can bank on seeing headlines with the phrase “upset of Biblical proportions.”

The film came out in limited release in September with a wide release set for February 2014.

Alone Yet Not Alone stars Kelly Greyson, Natalie Racoosin, Jenn Gotzon and Clay Walker.
