Chris Mulligan, troubled teen, hit and killed by box truck

Christopher Lee Mulligan, a Connecticut teen who made the news for some recent arrests, was killed crossing the street Wednesday afternoon.

Police confirmed the details to the Dispatch that Chris Mulligan was hit by a white box truck around 5pm Wednesday afternoon while crossing the intersection of South Main Street and Button Shop Road.

A 2007 GMC truck driven by Otamir Cordeiro was traveling northbound on South Main Street through the intersection and Mulligan crossed South Main Street from the southbound shoulder towards Button Shop Road.

The driver stopped after the pedestrian was hit.

Mulligan, age 18, crossed the highway, but Cordeiro claims he couldn’t stop in time to avoid the teen.

The crash is still under investigation.

Police are still seeking witnesses, says Newtown Police Chief Michael Kehoe, so please call Newton Police at 203-426-5841 if you have any information about the case.
