Chicago man, Andrew Hayslip, steals jewelry from mother with a broken hip, age 72, for drugs
A Chicago man is accused of stealing valuable jewelry from his 72-year-old mother so he could buy drugs, police said.

Andrew E. Hayslip, 34, was charged with felony theft after multiple pieces of her jewelry, including yellow metal “marquise cut’’ clear stone rings and a pair of silver metal “brilliant cut’’ clear stone earrings were all pawned.
The shop notified police that the transcaction was “Sketchy,” as the pawn value was $800, were stolen, according to a police report.
The victim, who suffers from a broken hip, lives at a Northwest Side rehabilitation center, the report said.
When asked why he allegedly took the jewelry, Hayslip told police:
“Amongst other things I needed to buy drugs,’’ the report said.
