Another incident on Friday morning have left police in south suburban Kankakee still searching for a hit-and-run driver that seriously injured an 11-year-old child.

Police reported that the incident occurred in the 600 block of North Chicago Avenue just after 11 a.m. The vehicle, a royal blue four-door sedan with dark-tinted windows, struck the child and fled the scene.

The child was airlifted to Loyola Hospital, where they are being treated for serious injuries.

A Maywood woman has been charged in connection with a fatal hit-and-run crash on an Eisenhower Expressway exit ramp that occurred on the 6th may 2018.

Klenshaye Little, 21, of Maywood, faces charges of leaving the scene and failing to report a fatal accident a that killed Anan Ahmed Albalawi, 27. Albalawi was pronounced dead on the scene and the four other people were taken to area hospitals with non-life-threatening injuries, police said.

For victims or their relatives a hit and run accident causes triple grief.

Like in any other accident there is a lot of grief about the real damage, injury or fatality. It not only concerns the direct consequences, but also the impact on the rest of their lives. Sometimes a simple accident can change the whole life of the victim and/or his relatives.

Secondly, in the case of hit and run, the further handling of the situation -financial compensation, accident analysis, court procedures, etc. takes much more time. There seems to be real suffering before everything can be settled.

But the most painful aspect by far is the uncertainty about what has happened and why a person left the victim to his fate. Also the fact that someone failed to take responsibility for his actions is probably the most horrible aspect.

Attorneys at Strom & Associates  advise that “ Anger and a feeling of helplessness can befall the victim of any auto accident. Those kinds of feelings are heightened in a hit-and-run situation, where the victim deals with the added fact that the at-fault driver has attempted to avoid responsibility…we help clients who are suffering through the physical and emotional trauma that comes with car accidents…Even if the driver cannot be found, do not give up hope. “

Whatever the reason, driving off without stopping after an accident is punishable under the law.
