Waking up in the morning with a terrible headache or experiencing pain around the neck and hips or having severe body ache that is difficult to explain are things that any camper wants to avoid. These are all examples of what can happen if you sleep on a mattress of poor quality.  It is the reason why you must not compromise in selecting the best mattress that ably supports your body and facilitates good sleep with no signs of any discomfort when you wake up in the morning. To know what options you have in choosing mattresses, please have the patience to go through the remaining part of this article.

Air camping mattress

When camping, you would prefer the mattress that is easy to fold and pack so that it easily fits into the bag that you are carrying and it should be lightweight. For a mattress that fits into your backpack, the air camping mattress is an ideal choice. Air mattresses are good for use in three seasons, and if you are looking for a mattress to use in colder climates, you could pick one with a reflective layer or insulation that helps to increase the warmth.  Air mattresses are the perfect substitute for thick mattresses, and you can choose from a range of different thicknesses. An air mattress that inflates up to a thickness of 3 inches would comfortably tuck into your backpack. Air mattresses with a built-in hand pump is an excellent choice as it eliminates the chance of moisture getting inside when you inflate it by blowing.

Self-inflating camp mattress

Self-inflating mattresses made from thick fabric have better durability. This type of mattress belongs to the middle category regarding price as it lies between the air mattresses and closed foam mattresses. Made from a combination of open cell foam and air, these are versatile for all types of camping including car camping. You can adjust the firmness by releasing air and enjoy excellent insulation that provides warmth. These are expensive and heavy too.

Closed foam mattress

This is the most basic type of camping mattress that looks more like foam pads that you can easily roll and hang it in the bag that you carry. For those looking for cheap options, this is a good choice as it is lightweight too. Made from dense foam filled with minute closed air cells but it would be too much to expect good comfort from it.
