Charlie Sheen drops anti-gay comment, backpedals and apologizes
Charlie Sheen’s anti-gay slur has put the “Anger Management” star in hot water again as the actor used a “homophobic” welcome in the grand-opening of a bar in San Jose del Cabo on Friday. Sheen, once the backlash followed, apologized and said he misspoke.
“How we doing?” Sheen says to the crowd as he takes the stage to introduce some musical acts, according to the video posted on TMZ’s website Sunday. “Lying bunch of fa**** a**es, how we doing?”
Sheen must have gotten the backlash-memo; he issued an apology later.
“I meant no ill will and intended to hurt no one and I apologize if I offended anyone. I meant to say maggot but I have a lisp.”
The obligatory apologies from celebrities that follow homophobic statements are largely viewed as hollow and not genuine.
