Charles Krauthammer: ‘I think Chris Christie takes up the mantle of the majority of the GOP, which is interventionist’

If you didn’t already know, syndicated columnist and Fox News analyst, Charles Krauthammer spelled it out for us–the foreign policy views of the majority of the Republican party is “interventionist”.

In case you missed it, last week New Jersey Governor Chris Christie said at a gubernatorial conference at the Aspen Institute, “This strain of libertarianism that’s going through parties right now and making big headlines I think is a very dangerous thought.”

He went on to say, “These esoteric, intellectual debates — I want them to come to New Jersey and sit across from the widows and the orphans and have that conversation. And they won’t, because that’s a much tougher conversation to have.”

These comments were sort of directed at Kentucky Senator Rand Paul who shot back at Christie.

Charles Krauthammer, a lover of the neoconservative philosophy on foreign policy was tickled pink over Christie’s comments using such descriptive words as “fearless,” “electrifying,” and “an extremely important moment.”

“It was an extremely important moment. Rand Paul represents the sort of isolationist wing of the Republican party; by this direct, fearless attack on him by Christie, I think he takes up the mantle of the majority of the GOP, which is interventionist. And that’s a really important moment”, Krauthammer said on Special Report with Bret Baier.

Unfortunately, what Krauthammer said is very likely true, most of the Republican Party, and the Democratic Party for that matter, is interventionist.

When Baier pointed out the growing influence of “a libertarian strain” within the party, Krauthammer chimed in, “that’s what makes what Christie did in taking it on so important and electrifying.”

Just as a side note, Rand Paul is hardly an isolationist– non-interventionist may be a better description. However, neocons love to throw that word around because it seems to make their argument more palatable.

Christie is a joke and the gop had a big chance to take over the senate and the presidency, but they are blowing it. If they will leave women alone and stop blanket amnesty for criminals, they would rule!! But it looks like they are going to shoot themselves in the foot again!!!! I believe the American people will speak to the idiots in Washington and we will see a change ing of the guard as the people like Paul are elected!!!!!
