CBS confirms ‘Under the Dome’ season 2 for same time slot, Stephen King to write episode
After several episodes of high ratings, especially for a summer show airing at 10:00 p.m. Eastern with not much of a lead-in, the network confirmed at TCA Monday that “Under the Dome” will be back for a second season.
In a statement, Nina Tassler said both with the announcement of the show’s renewal, and also that the original novel’s author in Stephen King will write the season premiere next year:
“We’re excited to tell more stories about the mystery of the dome and the secrets in Chester’s Mill, and are thrilled to have the master storyteller himself, Stephen King, tell the first one of next season.”
Despite rumors of changes to air times, the show will remain in the current slot.
According to CBS, the drama has been averaging about 13.8 million viewers during its current Season 1 run. “Under the Dome” stars Mike Vogel, Rachelle Lefevre, Dean Norris and Britt Robertson.
The series is produced by King, Neal Baer, Justin Falvey, Darryl Frank, Stacey Snider, Jack Bender and Brian K. Vaughan.
[…] “It worked beyond our expectations,” says Stapf of the experiment, with Dome ending its first season as the most watched summer series in more than two decades with, on average, 15 million-plus viewers. The series returns in summer 2014, with King set to pen the first episode. […]
