CBS ‘clarifies’ false reporting on pro-life group, doesn’t apologize
The CBS TV station in Sacramento has issued an apology after being accused of misleading and slanderous reporting about a pro-life outreach campaign by Project Truth at Cordova High School in the City of Rancho Cordova, California.
The retraction came after Life Legal Defense Foundation sent KVOR a letter demanding that the broadcast outlet apologize to Project Truth and correct the reported falsehoods.
The station’s false reports received criticism from industry peers and watchdogs, and the published KVOR “clarification” stated that the broadcast outlet regretted any confusion resulting from the reporting errors.
Allison Aranda, Senior Staff Counsel for Life Legal Defense Foundation, said, “We are pleased that KVOR chose to correct its misrepresentation of and false statements made about Project Truth, a pro-life group. It is always our hope that media will choose to be responsible and truthful in their coverage of this and other pro-life groups. The Life Legal Defense Foundation will help set the record straight when pro-life organizations are incorrectly portrayed by the media.”
