Bryan Sweatt kills 5 in South Carolina murder suicide, including two kids: Tariq Robinson, William Robinson
Two children and four adults were shot and killed in a South Carolina home Tuesday is a murder-suicide following a domestic dispute, police report.
Officers rushed to the scene after phone calls to 911 to discover Bryan Eugene Sweatt, age 27, killed himself after shooting his girlfriend Chandra Fields, age 26.
Also murdered were Richard Allen Fields, 51, Melissa Maroney Fields, 49 and two children: Tariq Kenyon Robinson, 11; and William Asa Robinson, 9.
A second 911 call was from children who escaped to a neighbor’s house saying that there were hostages inside the home, but SWAT was unable to get the man to come out.
“They tried to talk him out and they couldn’t get anybody out and that’s when the SWAT team went in” about an hour after deputies arrived, Sergeant John Long, a spokesman for the sheriff’s department in Greenwood County said.
The bodies were discovered when they entered the house.
Sweatt and Chandra Fields had a 7-month-old baby, who was sent to a neighbor’s house along with three other children before the incident, the sheriff said.
Sweatt has a long criminal history, mostly for theft and burglary.
