Brothers Rick Rittmaier, Rondal Rittmaier identified in Ohio murder suicide
Stark County Sheriff’s Office deputies have now identified the two victims in yesterday’s apparent murder-suicide as a pair of a brothers in Sugar Creek.
Rick Rittmaier, 55, and 51-year-old Rondal Rittmaier were discovered dead after a welfare check on their mother by deputies.
Michele Sorge said she worked with Rick Rittmaier several years ago at Food 4 Less, reflecting on the man in a Facebook post.
“I left Food 4 Less 19 years ago but I remember Rick as being a really nice guy,” she wrote in a Facebook message to The Independent. “He was quiet and a bit eccentric at times but never mean or violent in any way. It breaks my heart to see this has happened to him.”
Recalling his demeanor, she stated that “I remember Rick as always being happy and cheerful and he could always make me smile,” she continued. “This whole story is so sad.”
“I knew Rick as a kind-hearted and extremely friendly person, (he would) remember absolutely everything you told him,” another former co-worker stated. “A great worker, friend and person in general. The kind of man more people should try to be like.”
According to the sheriff’s office the case is still under investigation, being treated as a murder-suicide. The Stark County coronoer’s office is expected to release autopsy results tomorrow.
