Richard Wight, age 55, was found stabbed to death at his house, but before his death, Mr. Wight told his brother he had discovered child porn on his neighbour Alan Taylor’s computer.
Detectives believe Mr Wight had stuck a note on Mr Taylor’s window describing him as “Gary Glitter”- a reference to the musician’s conviction for child sex offences.
It is thought former charity worker Taylor, age 59, attacked Mr Wight in his garden, smashing a glass bottle over his head and stabbing him in the neck and chest with an eight-inch hunting knife.
Police believe Mr Taylor then went home, deleted 37 child porn files from his computer, and suffered a fatal heart attack.
Details from the case are now being made public as the incidents happened in January of this year. The full story of what happened may never come to light.
Police believe Taylor killed Wight because he feared he would expose him as a paedophile.
“We will perhaps never know what brought things to a head on that day. Whatever the history and ongoing disputes (between the two men), this was a brutal and wholly unjustified attack, which led to the tragic loss of Richard Wight’s life.
