Brazilian rapper, Daniel Pellegrine aka MC Daleste, shot and killed during performance
In another strange and gruesome death in Brazil, a 20-year-old rapper, or funk artist, was shot and killed while performing in the township of Campinas, outside of Sao Paulo, Brazil.
According to Billboard, Daniel Pellegrine, known as MC Daleste was mid-song when a bullet struck him. The incident was caught on video and uploaded to YouTube, where it has nearly 6.5 million views.
The bullet struck him in the abdomen as he was seen collapsing on the stage. Pellegrine died at a local hospital.
Saturday’s concert took place at a public housing project in the town of Campinas, about 50 miles north of São Paulo city, with as many as 3,000 people in attendance.
Who is MC Daleste? Billboard says, “MC Daleste was a member of the Sao Paulo-centered “Ostentatious Funk” scene, a bling-obsessed and violent brand of rap over looped beats. Also called Sao Paulo funk, the club genre is an offshoot of Rio’s Funk Carioca, rooted in that city’s impoverished favelas and known for its empowering conscious messages and sexy groove.”
No information has been released on arrests or potential suspects in the case.
This follows the gory scene reported at an amateur soccer game in the Brazilian town of Pius XII the week before where a referee stabbed and killed a player and an angry mob dismembered the referee.
