Bowen’s Botches and Bodyslams: WWE Smackdown Live Results and Review August 7 2018
WWE Smackdown Live is from the Amway Center in Orlando, Florida this week. Tonight we will see the final match in the Tag Team Tournament between The New Day and The Bar to find out who will face The Bludgeon Brothers for the Tag Team Championships.

Bodyslam – Orton is masterful in the ring, with a mic or with a match. This “blame the fans for my evil deeds” schtick may not stop the fans from cheering for him regardless of how well he does it though. I can’t wait to see what he does next to Jeff Hardy and what he does to whoever is next on his list. And I’ll cheer for it.
Becky Lynch and Charlotte Flair Backstage
“So we’re good for this tag match then?” – @MsCharlotteWWE
“Of course, we’re not @SashaBanksWWE & @itsBayleyWWE!” – @BeckyLynchWWE

Bodyslam – Becky and Charlotte take a shot at Sasha and Bayley. Precursor to the first Women’s Tag Team Championship match?

FIRE & FLAIR! @BeckyLynchWWE & @MsCharlotteWWE pick up the victory over #TheIIconics on #SDLive! pic.twitter.com/npNCNmXDUS
— WWE (@WWE) August 8, 2018
Bodyslam – The IIconics got a “BORING” chant during their promo at the opening of the match, because they took way too long to get around to taking a shot at Becky being in Charlotte’s shadow. Their performance is great for everything but their in ring skills. But they’re getting better. Becky and Charlotte looked great in the ring and as a tag team. If the WWE is going to a Women’s Tag Team Division, it’s going to be a tough choice whether to keep these two in singles or go with them as a team.
The New Day Backstage Interview with Renee Young

Bodyslam – Wacky and entertaining. Standard fare for The New Day, who are anything but standard themselves.
The Miz Backstage
Bodyslam – The Miz gives Daniel Bryan a match at SummerSlam. It’s official, finally.
Becky Lynch and Charlotte Flair Backstage
.@BeckyLynchWWE & @MsCharlotteWWE were great tag team partners tonight on #SDLive, but #SummerSlam will be a different story. pic.twitter.com/voIGCTvRfi
— WWE (@WWE) August 8, 2018
Bodyslam – The tension between these two is palpable. They’re doing a great job with this angle. And are they sure they’re not Sasha and Bayley?

What’s so funny, @SamoaJoe? #SDLive @AJStylesOrg pic.twitter.com/ZgYJ6noW2T
— WWE Universe (@WWEUniverse) August 8, 2018
Botch – One of AJ’s weaker promo’s I’ve seen. Maybe he was supposed to appear flustered because it’s been made personal by Samoa Joe. But if seemed more like he was struggling than passionate, and the ending fell flat.
Lana and Rusev Backstage
.@RusevBUL & @LanaWWE forgive @WWEDramaKing…
… but they DON’T want #TheShakespeareOfSong ringside for @LanaWWE‘s match! #SDLive pic.twitter.com/9lTdU7OBOy
— WWE Universe (@WWEUniverse) August 8, 2018
Bodyslam – Aiden English is forgiven, but all is not forgotten. But Lana and Rusev are married, did they really not talk about this for a week and Rusev is just now apologizing? The dangers of knowing too much as a fan, I suppose.
Lana with Rusev vs. Zelina Vega with Andrade Cien Almas

— WWE (@WWE) August 8, 2018
Bodyslam – Lana is performing at a level I never expected this quickly. Those suplexes were perfect and delivered with authority. Vega is great also, and the story in the ring and how this continues was done well. This is the most compelling story on Smackdown right now.
Shinsuke Nakamura Backstage Interview with Renee Young
.@RonKillings wants a match AGAINST @ShinsukeN at #SummerSlam, and he’s going to PIN @CarmellaWWE to do it!!! Wait a minute… #SDLive pic.twitter.com/dNNsi7YysW
— WWE (@WWE) August 8, 2018
Bodyslam – R Truth is going to pin Carmella for a shot at the United States Championship. This is too funny. I love R Truth.
The Miz Interview Backstage with Byron Saxton In Ring

— WWE (@WWE) August 8, 2018
Bodyslam – R Truth isn’t just hilarious, he can go in the ring. Of course Nakamura is going to win, but this match was more than I bargained for. More R Truth please.
The Bludgeon Brothers Backstage
“This is going to be fun!” The #BludgeonBrothers are waiting on baited breath for the conclusion of the #SDLive #TagTeamTournament. @LukeHarperWWE @ERICKROWAN pic.twitter.com/NYSDMWjNgI
— WWE (@WWE) August 8, 2018
Bodyslam – Much better long promo than what they’ve had to work with in the past. It seems like the writers are starting to figure out how to work with this gimmick.

— WWE (@WWE) August 8, 2018
Botch – Even in a handicap match, it didn’t make sense for the Tag Team Champions to be facing unknown jobbers. I understand that they haven’t had a match in a while, but since when is WWE short on tag teams they are willing to bury?

Bodyslam – The crowd broke into “THIS IS AWESOME” chants multiple times, and they were not wrong. Fantastic match from some of the best in the business. Momentum shifts, false finishes, and a sense that anything could happen. The look on Big E’s face while in Cesaro’s Sharpshooter was a moment that defines what professional wrestling is all about and why we watch.
