Botches –

  • Brie Bella’s pants. She looked like a crazed mother going after a referee at a soccer game.
  • Becky Lynch’s heel turn explanation promo was just not good. I don’t know if it was the content or her delivery, but it was lackluster and unconvincing.
  • Lana seemed to be off and it made both her and Vega look bad. Vega obviously had to slow down.

Bodyslams –

  • Brie Bella’s return to action. The Bella Twins are sure to be involved in the imminent Women’s Tag Team Division.
  • Paige stole every scene she was in tonight. Her segment with Carmella and R-Truth was fantastic.
  • AJ Styles vs. Samoa Joe is red hot and we’re just getting started.
  • Jeff Hardy vs. Randy Orton and The New Day vs. The Bludgeon Brothers were both savagely brutal. Incredible matches.

The women of had the spotlight on Smackdown tonight, and they carried the show well. There was a lot of hostility across the entire show, and it feels like everything is turning into deeply personal blood feuds. Jeff Hardy vs. Randy Orton and The New Day vs. The Bludgeon Brothers pushed the envelope of acceptable violence to the point where Samoa Joe’s assault on AJ Styles seemed tame. This show felt a lot like what Paul Heyman did in ECW and when he was writing Smackdown. It was well paced and left me wanting more when it ended.
