‘Boston’s Finest’ season 2 set for TNT, reruns set to air on CNN
TNT has picked up ‘Boston’s Finest’ for a second season and CNN also announced plans to air the eight-episode freshman run as an encore presentation.
One of many new unscripted efforts for the Turner-owned cable network, the first season of Boston’s Finest averaged 1.3 million viewers. Following the Boston Marathon bombing is a likely no-brainer for TNT.
The unscripted series, which offers viewers an up-close and very personal look at the men and women of the Boston Police Department.
Boston Globe has offered a mixed review of the show, noting that “Boston’s Finest does engage in all of the tricks of the reality show trade. Some scenes are re-enacted and events rearranged to heighten the drama.” The Globe offered this analysis as well: “…news accounts about Boston cops are often less than flattering. Over the last few years, for instance, we’ve seen stories about police officers grossly abusing overtime, cops being disciplined for using steroids (who do they think they are — professional athletes?), and allegations of police brutality against the Occupy Boston demonstrators.”
Boston’s Finest is executive-produced by Boston native Donnie Wahlberg (Blue Bloods) and Seth Jarrett and Julie Insogna-Jarrett (Celebrity Ghost Stories) and comes to TNT from Jarrett and Insogna-Jarrett’s Jarrett Creative Group and Wahlberg’s Donnie D. Productions.
