A Tampa Police School Resource Officer arrested a Blake High School student Wednesday after a gun was found in his backpack, according to a Tampa Police Department announcement Nov.7.

16-year-old Mario Sampson was arrested after someone told authorities that the teen had a gun. The gun was found unloaded in a gym bag.

Sampson was arrested without incident and charged with felony possession of a firearm on school grounds. Blake officials say he will not be returning to the school.

Tampa news source, WTSP.com reports that this isn’t the first time Sampson has been in trouble with police. In January 2010, he was arrested in Tampa after he was caught with a loaded gun and extra hollow-point bullets. He then violated his probation in April 2011 after he was suspended from Franklin Middle School. One of the conditions of his probation was that he attend school regularly and without incident.
