Billy Graham hospitalized with respiratory infection

Evangelist Billy Graham has been admitted to a North Carolina hospital for an infection in his lungs. According to a joint statement from a Graham spokesperson and Mission Hospital in Asheville, NC, the 93-year-old Graham was admitted overnight for evaluation and treatment of an infection thought to be bronchitis.

According to a release from Billy Graham’s website, the preacher was alert and in good spirits. The pulmonologist treating Mr. Graham, David Pucci, DO, said that he is resting comfortably, that appropriate antibiotics are being administered and that his condition is stable.

Graham spokesman Larry Ross says the evangelist was able to watch a television feed of his grandson, Will Graham, preaching on Sunday morning.

Graham was hospitalized for pneumonia last November. His staff says the evangelist’s health has been good since his release, though he remains at home due to age-related conditions.

The announcement of Brother Graham’s condition was posted on his Facebook page earlier today asking for prayers:

“Please keep Billy Graham in your prayers as he recovers from a respiratory infection at Mission Hospital.”
