Biggest Political Hypocrites of 2013: Marco Rubio on Obamacare, Mitch McConnell on shutdown
Many critics would target the President of democrats over different sound bites or comments during 2013, but two major hypocritical moves by two high profile republicans were extremely significant.
The government shutdown made national headlines and while Mitch McConnell continues to cater to Tea Party members, he attacks big name Tea Party groups like FreedomWorks.
While that may raise eyebrows, McConnell’s “Kentucky Kickback” as fallout from the government shutdown deal was a bullseye for critics.
“In exchange for funding Obamacare and raising the debt limit, Mitch McConnell has secured a $2 billion earmark. This is an insult to all the Kentucky families who don’t want to pay for Obamacare and don’t want to shoulder any more debt,” said Senate Conservative Fund.
Meanwhile, Florida Senator Marco Rubio has made a move to sign up for Obamacare and accept the government subsidy, a move critics are saying contradicts his “anti-Obamacare” stance.
Rubio has been a vocal opponent of Obamacare, even trying to use the IRS scandal as a point of order, but signed up for health insurance on the District of Columbia exchange and he’s accepted a $10,000 taxpayer subsidy to defray the cost of his family’s health insurance.
“It’s an employer contribution,” Rubio said. “It’s available to every employee of the federal government.”
No Americans can decide if these actions are worthy of outrage or removal from office as 2014 nears…of course, Rubio’s team doesn’t end until 2016.
