‘Big Bang Theory’ set to add girlfriend for Raj in Kate Micucci, ‘Raising Hope’ star

The Big Bang Theory’s Raj has been on a never-ending search for a girlfriend, and he may have finally found one. The show’s producers have cast Raising Hope’s Kate Micucci for a multi-episode arc in which she will play Raj’s new girlfriend.

Entertainment Weekly reports that the show’s writers started talking about introducing a girlfriend for Raj during Comic Con this summer. “But don’t cheer yet,” executive producer Chuck Lorre told the audience at the convention. “Wait til you see it.”

Raj has a disorder that keeps him from talking with women unless he has been drinking alcohol.

Star Johnny Galecki told THR recently that the Valentine’s Day episode could be a big one for Leonard and Penny. “We never started doing holiday event shows until two or three seasons in, when we did the Christmas episode,” Galecki explained. “That was a big hit, and we struck a chord of sentimentality with our audience, and we’ll continue to do so. The Valentine’s Day episode will be that.”

Micucci currently has a recurring role on Raising Hope as Shelley and appeared in When in Rome, an episode of Suburgatory and Bored To Death.
