Bette Midler’s tasteless tweet about Rand Paul
While Kentucky Senator Rand Paul challenged his big spending colleagues in the Senate last night, one “celebrity” thought it would be funny to tweet about advocating violence against the eye surgeon.
I can’t even believe I’m typing her name, but here it goes–Bette Midler, the once “relevant”singer and actress and self-described “Pensive nymph, hausfrau and Martyr”, thought she would try to surge herself back into the limelight by tweeting-Where’s Rand Paul’s neighbor when we need him?
Really? Here’s the one guy in the Senate showing real concern about the deficit and debt, the one guy in the Senate who thinks we’ve spent way too much time, blood and treasure in overseas adventures and “The Divine Miss M” thought it’d be cool to wish a nutty neighbor was available to break six of his ribs.
The Senator’s communication director, Sergio Gor tweeted: This is disgusting @BetteMidler calling for violence. She should be ashamed.
Quite a few people didn’t take this tweet well and Midler felt the backlash including turning her in to Twitter (who has some real strict rules…depending on who you are):
Dear @jack and @TwitterSupport, this tweet is in clear violation of your rules, since Rand Paul’s neighbor attacked him. Wishing violence/death on others is against Twitter rules.
I made sure i saved this tweet so I can show everybody how you are advocating violence against a sitting senator. What a great role model you are.
And then there was this one that really summed it up– Oooh.. Poor baby.. Nice try for attention..
Then there was the best reply of all:
[…] Bette Midler’s tasteless tweet about Rand Paul […]
