Benedict Cumberbatch voices Snapes for ‘Simpsons’ episode, gets mobbed at airport and featured in new ‘Star Trek’ photos
Benedict Cumberbatch will be busy with new roles and upcoming movies. The “Sherlock” star will voice a pair of characters in “The Simpsons” and is now experiencing massive crowds in his travels.
Cumberbatch will voice both the England’s Prime Minister and Professor Snape in the Valentine’s-themed episode “Love is a Many-Splintered Thing.”
The star had previously earned the role in a somewhat unusual manner compared to most ‘Simpsons’ guest stars, as he puts it:
“I was at a meeting in the same place The Simpsons is recorded and heard there was a part going in an episode. I said ‘I hate to muscle in here guys but could I record it?’ Next thing, I’m standing in a room with all those famous voices; Bart, Marge, Homer, Lisa.”
Fans are now taking notice and mobbed the actor in Japan.
“I was mobbed at the airport in Japan, which was not my usual sort of thing,’ Benedict tells Now Magazine UK.
“It’s not what I expect when I arrive at the airport. It was amazing. Lots of fans turned out when we were recording in Tokyo. I think it was because there were a few people who were interested to talk to me about everything to do with my life at the moment, and to let me know that I’m very big on the internet, which I have sort of got wind of.”
