‘Bates Motel’ season 3 adds ‘Son of Anarchy’ alum Ryan Hurst
Bates Motel added another cast member as the hit show heads into production for season three. Son of Anarchy actor Ryan Hurst has joined the cast according to a new report.
Hurst will play Chick Hogan, an intelligent ex-con with dark and menacing personality traits. The character owns a motorbike shop, but runs an illegal firearms trade on the side, says the update from TVLine.
Hurst played Opie during Sons of Anarchy‘s first five seasons, and since then has guest-starred on Law & Order: SVU and featured in King & Maxwell. He will appear in Bates Motel alongside former Sons of Anarchy cast-mate Kenny Johnson.
Bates Motel is a prequel to the famous Psycho film with Freddie Highmore as a young version of Norman Bates and Vera Farmiga as his mother, Norma. After a role in the latest Transformers film, actress Nicola Peltz is set to reprise her role as Bradley, one of Norman’s first loves.
Nestor Carbonell plays the local sheriff and the romantic tension between his character and Norma increases every season. Farmiga confesses she wants to see this flame fanned, but in due time.
“I know a lot of people are eager to explore that, and I am, but I want them to do that in a way that is simmering,” Farmiga said during the summer.
“I look forward to where they take it.”
“I think the writers are open to it. As long as [Norma] keeps misbehaving, I’ll be chasing her,” Carbonell also said with a laugh. “I think he fancies himself a guy who can do it all. He’s got a big opinion of himself.”
Bates Motel returns in March 2015.
