‘Avengers’ cast now includes Mark Ruffalo as Hulk, Jeremy Renner as Hawkeye
Rufallo, will re-portray the role of the green colored, always angry superhero ‘The Hulk’, while Jeremy Renner is set to wow us with his adaptation of ‘Hawkeye’.
The two additional stars of the much anticipated movie attended the Comic-Con in San Diego, California last Saturday to promote the film.
Hawkeye, Renner’s character, is a world-class archer and marksman, according to Marvel’s official website. His ability also make him the “most proficient archer ever known.” Wow, he’s like Robin Hood.
Meanwhile, the Incredible Hulk, Ruffalo’s character is like “Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde”, two personas in one body. According to Marvel, Hulk possesses an incredible level of superhuman physical ability, and at the same time, super-normal when he is still not transforming.
Robert Bruce Banner (Hulk’s real name) capacity for physical strength is potentially limitless, and can increase proportionally with his level of great “emotional stress”.
Now let’s see if Mark and Jeremy can satisfy the “cravings” of the die-hard comic book fans.
Director Joss Whedon said this to MTV:
“The thing about Hawkeye, he’s got his bows and arrows, you need somebody who’s very very down to earth, who’s very grounded, and who’s going to be the kind of guy who, you see him, and you understand why he likes to be far away from things and then shoot at them,” Whedon said, adding that without the right actor in the role things could get “very silly” if handled incorrectly. “[With] Jeremy, he just has a lovely quality.”
With regard to Ruffalo, Whedon says the celebrated actor was his “first and only choice for Bruce Banner.”
“I’m stunned that we landed that, just stunned,” he said. “He has what I remember loving about the show, that quality of, you just look at him and you go through it with him, he invites you in in a way that [no] other performer has since Bill Bixby. He is a guy who’s been beaten up by life, but not defined by that. That’s what I want from Bruce Banner, is a guy who’s still getting it done, even though he has his problem.”
Scarlett Johansson was on-hand as “Black Widow” from “Iron Man 2” and the “Avengers” film.
