‘Avengers’ cast films new scene after the premiere: rumors abound a link to future films
What started as an unlikely Internet rumor, the cast of “The Avengers” appear to have assembled for one additional scene which was filmed after the initial premiere, may be have been confirmed.
Rumors circulated after the press conference which followed when Robert Downey Jr. seemingly joked that they were filming one more scene, that night. The crowd laughed, but (as Slash Film noted) Marvel Studios Exec Kevin Feige didn’t find it amusing, especially when Downey Jr. added:
“I’m not kidding. (then quickly added) No more questions.”
Fast forward a day as Playlist caught up with actor Mark Ruffalo, who portrays the Hulk who added some confirmation to the rumors:
“We’re shooting a scene tonight. I’m not sure exactly where it’s gonna go. All I know is that someone came in with the costume and said, ‘Here’s some wardrobe. We don’t know where you’re going to be or what you’re doing.’ “
Fortunately Ruffalo was pressed to confirmed the shoot was for “The Avengers.”
“Yeah. So I’m like, ‘All right, when are we doing that?’ Today after we’re done.”
Fan speculation is rampant across the web now.
- Is the scene actually part of “The Avengers?
- Could the scene be a credit sequence for “Iron Man 3”, “Thor 2” or even “Captain America 2”?
- What if this sequence needed for another film (e.g. “Ant-Man”)?
The excitement for Joss Whedon’s “Avengers” couldn’t be more fever pitched.
“The Avengers” comes to theaters next month, May 4th, 2012.
