‘Avengers Age of Ultron’ mystery woman linked to Thor, cut from film

Marvel hasn’t been shy about sharing Avengers: Age of Ultron footage, but some of the clips have raised more questions than were answered and one appears to remain: who is the mysterious female character.

Now Entertainment Weekly ends the rumors: “…mysterious woman disrobing beside a pool of water inside a cave?Everyone was trying to guess who she might be – Maybe Shuri, Black Panther’s sister, or a member of his personal bodyguard corps, the Dora Milaje? Maybe Jacosta, the “female” mechanism Ultron created in the comics as his bride? I spun a whole theory that this woman could be one of the Eternals, who provide a mystical alternative to the problem of how to defeat an indestructible consciousness like Ultron,” they note.

She was originally supposed to be associated with Thor as EW writes “Thor’s whole journey to this cave is a bit of a head scratcher, which suggests a subplot that was seriously truncated.”

The film stars Robert Downey Jr. (Iron Man), Chris Evans (Captain America), Mark Ruffalo (Hulk), Jeremy Renner (Hawkeye), Chris Hemsworth (Thor) and Scarlett Johansson (Black Widow) with Paul Bettany (Vision), Cobie Smulders (Maria Hill), Aaron Taylor-Johnson (Quicksilver), Elizabeth Olsen (Scarlet Witch), Samuel L. Jackson (Nick Fury), Andy Serkis and James Spader (Ultron). Anthony Mackie is belived to be making an appearance as Falcon, Sebastian Stan as Winter Soldier and Don Cheadle as War Machine.

Avengers: Age of Ultron opens in theaters May 1, 2015.
