Arnold Schwarzenegger rumored to joining ‘Avatar 2’ as the ‘bad guy human general’

Fans of Avatar may be a bit surprised by the latest casting news as James Cameron is rumored to be bringing Arnold Schwarzenegger into the mix to appear in Avatar 2.

Avatar bannerAccording to Latino Review, Schwarzenegger will reunite with his former Terminator director to play “a bad guy human general” in the forthcoming sequel.

Other than Sigourney Weaver in a supporting role, the first film was decidedly light on established stars, preferring instead to focus on the visuals of Pandora and amazing special effects.

The sequels are set to featured another potential leap forward in technology as the story is expected involve underwater scenes and expand on the motion capture to bring that to the screen.

“We have kept a team of digital artists on from Avatar in order to test how we can create performance capture underwater.  We could simulate water [in CG], but we can’t simulate the actor’s experience, so we are going to capture performance in a tank,” producer Jon Landau said earlier this year.

With Avatar 2 not scheduled for release until December 2016, there will likely be plenty more news to follow.
