Arkansas Sen Tom Cotton: constituents did not ask about the FISA Memo, ‘not a single question’
While appearing on this morning’s “Hugh Hewitt Show,” Arkansas Senator Tom Cotton was asked about the fallout from the FISA memo release, stating that no Republican Senators (that he’s aware of) are calling for the firing of Special Counsel Robert Mueller or Deputy Attorney General for the United States Department of Justice Rod Rosenstein, despite accusations from Democrats to the contrary.
Instead, Cotton focused on what his constituents are really interested in, listing off topics he faced during a recent event in his home state: “the tax bill, paychecks, increases they’ll get when witholdings down this month, about the end of the Obamacare mandates, what we’re going to do on immigration, about the threat we face from North Korea. Hewitt pounded the silence from Democrats over the omission of facts presented before the FISA court, asking Sen. Cotton about the legal “consequences of a material omission or facts in a public offering or quarterly report,” prompting him to point out that some of those Democrats “minimizing the content” would be “screaming bloody murder” if it were a CEO of a big corporation, Wells Fargo for example.
“It’s obviously a serious matter,” Cotton acknowledges, “whether it happens from a private corporation or whether a handful of senior FBI leaders…” engaged in that type of activity.
Cotton discussed his stance on the FISA evaluation, if the FBI cutting ties with Christopher Steele were made known to the FISA court or not and repeated: “It’s important in my opinion that all these matters follow the facts where they lead and make it as public as we can for the American people so they can have confidence in the processess…”
