Arizona GOP ‘censure’ Senator John McCain, needs ‘to be held accountable’
The media has been quiet and Senator John McCain has not been commenting on the Maricopa County Republican Party’s decision to “censure” him for what GOP activists deemed his “long and terrible record of drafting, co-sponsoring and voting for legislation best associated with liberal Democrats.”
The resolution passed on a 1,150-to-351 vote at the Maricopa County GOP’s mandatory yearly meeting.
McCain’s offenses cited in the resolution included working on comprehensive immigration reform, or “amnesty,” and not going along with last year’s conservative strategy to “defund” President Obama’s signature health-care law.
The Maricopa County Republican Committee Chairman A.J. LaFaro has developed a reputation for “extreme” partisanship, noting that he compared Gov. Jan Brewer to “Judas” last year for her support of using federal money to expand Medicaid in the state.
Timothy Schwartz, the Legislative District 30 Republican chairman, was the author of the anti-McCain resolution, according to a Maricopa County GOP news release.
“When career politicians and liberal Republicans like John McCain and Jan Brewer forget or don’t care about who they represent and our conservative values, then they need to be held accountable,” LaFaro said last week in an e-mail to reporters. “If there is a divide in the Republican Party, then they created it.”
McCain is considering seeking a sixth Senate term in 2016.
John McCain is narrow and closed minded, out of touch and outdated. Simple put as McCain would put things McCain is a outdated old warmonger that the Defense & Oil Industries own. People from all party affiliations and race should unite and vote the old fool out of office
