An Introductory Guide to Guest Posting

Writing a guest post on some other blog is one of the best ways of gaining exposure for your website or blog. Not only is this beneficial in increasing your visibility to other readers, but it can also improve your visibility in search engines if your guest post includes a link to your website or blog. However, you have to have some understanding of the concept before you adopt the practice of guest posting. Here are some tips that can help you in this regard:

Familiarize yourself

Before you decide to write a guest post for a blog, you have to be familiar with the website or blog first. Is the tone of the site professional or casual? Who visits the blog? What is the usual subject of the website? You want to post articles that are interesting and related to the subject of the blog and at the same time, connected to your own because you want to intrigue and interest some new fans and readers.

Do your homework

When you have to get familiar with a blog where you want to post as a guest, it also includes researching the other guest posts they have sponsored. Requesting a guest post on a subject that was addressed just recently is most likely going to get you rejected. Not only is it repetitive, but will also show that you don’t read the site properly. Instead, you should look for an opening that hasn’t been filled and use it to your advantage. Sometimes, an outside source is able to spot things that the owner or primary blogger may not be able to see.

Network

While it is possible for you to just get in touch with a site owner and offer to write a guest post, it is better if you build a relationship first. You can start this by commenting on their blog posts, subscribing to their email and sending in replies. You don’t have to become best friends, but you want them to be familiar with your name so that they may consider your request for guest posting rather than just ignoring it. In the event that you are managing several websites and time management is already difficult, you can look for some reliable guest posting services to do all that for you.

Follow protocol

Keep in mind that if the website you want to post on has outlined a proper procedure that should be followed for applying for a guest post, then it is best to follow it. Every website has its own way of doing things and it is best to follow the rules to get approved.

Search Visibility

One of the most important aspects of guest posting is the bump they give you in terms of search engine results. Every time you guest post, you are automatically back linking to your website. This is helpful because the more relevant your backlinks are, the greater your page rank will be in search engine results. Your ratings can also go higher even if you have just a couple of links to relevant articles on other authority websites and blogs. However, you have to be cautious because you don’t want it to seem like a spam website.
