Alden Ehrenreich talks ‘Han Solo’ auditioning on the Falcon

Alden Ehrenreich sat down for a chat with Interview Magazine (via StarWarsNewsNet) and talked about the new Han Solo film, confessing that he remembers pretending he was Han Solo as a kid, much like some of the other characters he’s played.

“I remember pretending to be the characters in the movies when I was a little kid. The last three movies I’ve done, I played a cowboy [in Hail Caesar], then I played a soldier [in Little Birds], and now I play Han Solo. So the little kid in me is having a real joyride.”

Getting to live that childhood dream took a long time as Alden talked about the audition process, which sounds like a dream come true.

“I had an audition process that went on for a long time, and I got to spend a lot of time with the guys who are directing the film. Getting to be around them and being around the world a little bit has been the main experience so far. I did my audition on the Millennium Falcon for one of my screen tests, which was pretty cool.”

Donald Glover has been confirmed as Lando with some more casting news likely coming soon, See some rumors below.

GQ summarized some recent casting rumors well, “The rumor came via Twitter, where Mashablefilm reporter Jeff Sneider stated that there were four young women in the running for a female lead role in the movie, and none of them were white. Taken at face value, the rumor really doesn’t indicate much, except for Lucasfilm and Disney’s continued commitment to making the future of Star Wars a diverse one. But if you’ve been paying attention to all things Star Wars over the past year, there’s a very clear implication for a woman of color taking a lead role in a Han Solo movie: They’re casting Han’s wife.”

“Back to the summer of 2015, in issue #6 of Marvel’s ongoing Star Wars comic book series, Han and Leia are on the run from Imperials when they get cornered by a woman named Sana Solo, who says she’s Han’s wife. And it’s kind of true. Over the following issues, it’s gradually revealed that her name is actually Sana Starros, and that the two of them got married as part of a long con with the end goal of ripping off a third party, only to have their partnership fall apart due to mistrust.”
