Albert Square Manchester transformed for ‘Frankenstein’ as Daniel Radcliffe spotted on set

Albert square was “transformed into an outpost of Hollywood” says the Manchester Evening News, describing the scene on the set of Frankenstein in a March 5 article.

Photos of Harry Potter star Daniel Radcliffe in a gray top hat highlight photos of 19th century costumed actors to bring the latest adaptation of Mary Shelley’s classic to life.

“…key scenes of the feature will be shot in Manchester, including the town hall and the city’s Northern Quarter,” the article states.

“And Albert Square was today turned into a hive of activity with dozens of trailers, crew, extras and even horses and vintage carriages filling up the space. The central quadrangle of the town hall has been transformed into a Victorian shopping arcade – and a sneak peak of the interior set was visible from Lloyd Street.”

Radcliffe stars as Igor alongside X-Men: First Class star James McAvoy, who plays the famous “mad scientist,” and Sherlock‘s villain Andrew Scott playing Roderick.  Downton Abbey star Jessica Brown Findlay stars as Lorelei in the film directed by Paul McGuigan.
