‘Agents of SHIELD’ season 2: ‘Aftershocks’ involves Chloe Bennet as Inhuman, Baron von Strucker set up
Agents of SHIELD is back and Raina and Skye try to come to terms with their “inhuman” transformations as Coulson tries to take down HYDRA, and everyone mourns Tripp, who died in the mid-season finale. Title ‘Aftershocks,’ the episode was directed by Billy Gierhart and written by showrunners Maurissa Tancharoen and Jed Whedon.
Skye (Chloe Bennet) and Raina (Ruth Negga) were left coccooned and now fans get to she Raina as a “human shrub of thorns” and then attack Calvin Zabo (Kyle MacLachlan) as Skye’s new Inhuman look is much more appealing. Fitz (Iain DeCaestecker) determines that Skye has in fact been genetically altered and her new powers manifest…somewhat, which is hidden by Fitz.
Simmons (Elizabeth Henstridge) appears to be getting a new personality this half season in an interesting twist. HYDRA continues to plot against SHIELD, which is where Coulson (Clark Gregg) comes in to save the day. Now a show regular, Bobbi (Adrienne Palicki) reaffirms that Palicki is one of the best performers on the show.
Gordon (Jamie Harris) is a blind Inhuman, resembling The Reader from comic books, but has teleportating powers, which contradicts the mythos. There is also a ton of name dropping for Avengers: Age of Ultron – do you get Baron von Strucker is a bad guy….
