Adele Bing, Florida woman, shoots and kills daughter, Ruby Bing, in mistaken identity case
A Florida woman now faces second-degree murder as she reportedly shot and killed her daughter, thinking it was someone else.
Winter Haven police say that Ruby Bing, age 26, went to her mother’s home Monday evening, hours after her mother had a heated argument with her boyfriend. James Lane, Adele Bing’s boyfriend, was at the hospital being treated for injuries after Adele hit him in the head with a gun.
Officers arrived to find Ruby Bing lying on the ground, shot when her mother thought it was Lane.
Ruby came to visit with her 4-month-old baby and knocked on the door.
Adele armed herself with a baseball bat and a .22 caliber gun and, when she opened the door, a shot was fired, hitting Ruby Bing in the chest, police said.
Ruby Bing died at the scene. The baby was not injured.
Adele Bing was arrested and charged with second degree murder and child abuse without great bodily harm. Detectives said she claimed the gun discharged accidentally, but admitted she brought it to the door to kill her boyfriend because he had threatened to come back and kill her.
