4 Simple Ways to Streamline your Home Cleaning

Everyone is busy these days, and keeping the house clean is a never ending process. It doesn’t take long for a clean home to get dirty once again. And, with schedules as busy as they are, finding ways to streamline your home cleaning is vital. Here are four simple things you can do to simplify the process.

Sweep Your Front Porch Every Day

By far, the vast majority of dirt enters your home through your entry and exit doors. Sweeping your front porch every day will rid your primary entry point of a significant amount of dirt, and keep it from getting into your home.

This does not have to be a lengthy or comprehensive process. Keep a small broom by the door in a closet, and just quickly sweep the general area. This should only take a few minutes. Sweeping the area will keep the dirt from out of the house, and save you time down the road that you would have spent vacuuming and sweeping.

Get Technology to Help and Automate

Technology can help you streamline your home cleaning process. For starters, there are many automated tools that will dramatically cut down on your cleaning workload each week. Robotic vacuums work great to pick up 80% of the dirt on your floors. If you don’t have a home that works well for a robotic vacuum, even a cordless stick vacuum will allow you to quickly clean each day.

There are a whole host of other technological tools that will automate your home for you, ranging from an automatic litter box to automated shower cleaning. And, where it can’t automate for you, technology can still make the cleaning process easier.

Do Laundry Throughout the Week

Laundry can stack up quickly throughout the week, and it isn’t long until you might have three or four loads. Laundry is a fairly comprehensive process: you have to sort, wash, dry, fold, and hang for every single piece of clothing. When you have three to five loads, this process elongates, and can sometimes stretch over several days to complete.

Instead of waiting until you have several loads, try doing laundry throughout the week. You will stay on top of it and not fall behind, keeping your laundry from weighing your home cleaning efforts down.

Tidy Up on Your Day Off

Spend 15-30 minutes on an off day doing a general tidy up of your home. For many, this might be a Saturday morning or Sunday afternoon. This doesn’t need to be a deep clean, nor does it need to be focused on a specific area of the house. Rather, do a general clean up once per week, and you’ll notice the effects of it on your home.

Pardo’s Law says that 80% of the effects come from 20% of the effort, and this is very true when you tidy your home up weekly. Put everything away and do a quick wipe down of the countertops. Hang any clothing that might have gotten left out, and make sure all the dishes are put away.

Not only does this help keep your house clean, but it will also raise your spirits. Your home will feel significantly cleaner, you’ll be motivated throughout the week to keep active on chipping away at it.

Finding ways to streamline your home cleaning is vital in today’s busy, on-the-go culture. Utilize these tips to keep your home clean with minimal effort on your part.
