3 Things to Do in Tacoma the Next Time You Visit

Out of all the amazing places to visit in in the Pacific Northwest, people don’t generally choose Tacoma as their premier destination. Granted, it’s pretty industrial and it has a funny smell, but just because there is a lot of metal lying about and there is a high rate of crime doesn’t mean it’s not a fun and exciting place to visit and explore. Luckily, Tacoma is only about 30 minutes drive from Seattle, so if you spend the day in Tacoma doing these things, you can head on up to the city of coffee afterward.

Curious as to what the heck there is to do in Tacoma? Well, let’s start here:

Stadium High School

Tacoma is right on the Puget Sound just like Seattle is, so when you visit, there will be no shortage of being able to see the ocean. Did you ever watch the movie Ten Things I Hate About You? Well, that was a stupid question…of course, you have. Well, since you’re such a fanatic of that movie, you’ll be excited to learn that that awesome school that it was filmed at is right in Tacoma.

The stadium it was named after is enormous and beautiful and sits right over a lookout of the coast. You can climb the fence and pretend to be heath ledger singing “Can’t Take My Eyes Off Of You”. If you do nothing else, go to Tacoma for Stadium High School. It won’t disappoint. You might even find that you want to secure yourself a little slice of real estate there just so that your children can attend the same school as the great Julia Stiles, Heath Ledger, and Joseph Gordon-Levitt.

Stare At Mount Rainier

Do you like a life filled with thrill? Well, Tacoma is the place for you. When you visit, you’re going to be able to see Mt. Rainier looming in the distance threatening to erupt and end your life in a moment. What’s more thrilling than that? Well, in any case, Tacoma is beautiful. Stare at the volcano for a bit, but then take a hike through Point Defiance and feel like you’re in the Twilight movies because the scenery is absolutely lush and epic and something that will make you fall in love with the city.

Eat the Street Food

There are food carts in every city, but few cities can compare with the level of amazing food that comes out of Tacoma. Going out to eat at a regular restaurant is so overrated when you can walk a couple blocks from your front porch and get an amazing burrito or enchilada plate. Try out the local eats and decide for yourself, but for the record, Tacoma totally doesn’t suck.
