2020 Movie updates: ‘Godzilla vs King Kong’ ‘Scooby’ release dates, ‘The Flash’ production
While 2020 may seem far away, for movie studios, finding the perfect to drop their film project is key in the race to scrape in all of the box office dollars possible. Two films continue to move as Legendary’s Godzilla vs. Kong and Warner’s Scooby-Doo reboot set dates in 2020.
Godzilla vs. Kong will jump up by a week in 2020 from May 29 to May 22. Essentially the studio is attempting to claim the Memorial Day run as the writers, led by Terry Rossio, hammer out a story for a collossal battle.
A week sooner, Warner Bros announced that their new Scooby-Doo reboot, simply titled Scooby, will arrive. The film project was announced at the 2016 CinemaCon, but little else has been known. The first two Scooby-Doo movies with Freddie Prinze Jr and Sarah Michelle Gellar earned almost $500 million globally.
Scooby will be co-directed by Space Jam helmer Tony Cervone and Dax Sherpard.
Cervone worked on Cartoon Network’s “The Looney Tunes Show” and “Scooby-Doo! Mystery Incorporated.” Shepard is making a splash, landing the directing job for the CHIPS reboot.
Matt Lieberman (“Dr. Dolittle: Tail to the Chief”) wrote the screenplay, while Dan Povenmire (“Family Guy”) is on board as executive producer.
The Flash film
While promoting Alien:Covenant, Billy Crudup has been asked and speaking about he role as Henry Allen in the DC Cinematic Universe. Crudup has been quiet, offering a few remarks (HERE), but clearly stated he doesn’t know when the production will begin.
“No, I don’t [know],” he admitted. “It’s unclear at the moment.”
The delay isn’t due to any problems nailing down a director; it’s actually Ezra Miller’s schedule.
“I think [it’s because of] Ezra’s schedule,” Billy said. “Ezra’s a busy man, he’s very popular – and excellent.
