2014 Mrs America Austen Williams talks ‘8 Days,’ human trafficking
Mrs America 2014 is more than some pretty face as Austen Williams is campaigning for a new film titled 8 Days and speaking out against human trafficking.
Austen talks about the film with Brandon Jones and Dispatch Radio, noting how the girl was sold into trafficking how the story bursts stereotypes, especially those created by the film Taken.
Human trafficking was her platform during the Mrs America process, “you don’t have to do everything to battle trafficking, you can do our one thing.”
Austen explains how 8 Days breaks many of the stereotypes with a white victim, who has a loving family, which is not neglecting her well-being.
She explores dynamics of human trafficking, how this is a huge problem in the United States and what organizations she’s been working with:
