12/12/12 marks end of synced month, date and year as a prelude to Mayan Calendar hysteria
“End of Days” and “End Times” are dominating even the most benign conversation these days as folks scoff or prepare for the pending conclusion of the Mayan Calendar on December 21.
12/12/12 marks the last time in our current lifetimes that the month, date and years will be synced to be the same.
The once in a lifetime date is full of events tapping into the publicity and hype surrounding the unique timing and finality of the event.
Tonight is the 12/12/12 Sandy Relief Concert which will raise funds for the Robin Hood Relief Fund to help victims of the massive superstorm which ravaged the northeast earlier this year.

Meanwhile, the collaborative film project One Day on Earth is filming again, following on from its successful 10.10.10 and 11.11.11 events. The creators will take any video you care to upload to the site and edit it into a movie showing life around the globe.
In Fort Myers, Florida, couple are lining up for an event called “Weddings in Paradise,” which The American Academy of Wedding Professionals apparently dubbed the “wedding event of the century.”
Couples can get married for $250 a head, or $500 each if you want to do it on the stroke of 12:12 p.m. The organizers are at pains to point out that it isn’t a Moonie-style mass wedding; every marriage will be conducted individually. That said, the event is expected to break a world record for most marriages in a single day.
Expectant mothers are booking C-sections to ensure the fortuitous birth date for their child. The press will certainly present the child born on 12/12/12 at 12:12pm (or possibly this morning at 12:12 am).
More constrained is the Chinese-style mass lantern release at sunset that should at least make for a great Instagram shot.
